Captain Eric

Laid Back Key West boat tours water separator

Eric Grandcourt’s life started in Broomfield, Colorado many moons ago. He explored the Rocky Mountains while hiking and snowboarding every chance he got, enjoying the mile high city of Denver before spending a few years in Boulder. Eventually the cold winters lost their appeal, and Eric found a renewing warmth in Key West: He threw out those suits worn in Colorado offices and traded them in for wetsuits, and his cubicle and pushy boss were replaced with open water, sea turtles and schools of bottlenose dolphin. Eric splashed in to a life on the water as a Divemaster with Captain’s Corner Dive Shop in 2007, and became a Captain for the same company in 2010. He bought his own boat, “Laid Back,” in the winter of 2011 and has been sharing his love for South Florida marine life on private charters ever since.

Our Boat

Our 250DC World Cat

Our boat is a 26 foot World Cat and because of the twin hull style, the ride is smooth, dry, and incredibly stable in calm and choppy waters.
Twin Mercury 4 stroke 150 horse power engines provide plenty of power and allow for a cruising speed of 30 knots (max 40 knots) while maintaining astounding fuel efficiency.

Whether you seek sun or shade, our World Cat will be comfortable for you. There is plenty of shaded seating for those who want to stay covered up from the sun. For those sun lovers, our wrap around bow seating is an excellent place to work on your golden vacation tan.
